Solstice Wars for Spirit & Flesh Magazine
As the Awakening quickens, the Light and Dark emerges, each in their fullest expression. After materializing, Light and Dark are now aware of each other. The battle begins, the dance of the energy begins between the two opposing forces. Exhausted in this search of balance they realize their energies would of battled on forever. They have taken a portion of each others energies. Awakening to the realization that you can not have the light without the dark and the dark can not exist without the light, they begin to embody the other combining energies and giving in. Together they realize that working together the force is the strongest, together they carry on.

I was interested in what it was like to wait for letters from your loved one or your sweetheart. Before cell phones, wi-fi and email's. When we use to write our thoughts, love and emotions on paper and send it, to wait weeks sometimes months in anticipation of what and if it was going to be returned. This story shares the space with Katherine as she explores the feelings and the waiting for word of her boyfriend who was sent to the front line in Vietnam, story set in the late 60's and photographed on location in Manhattan Beach. I created this on location with the talented Sandy Phan, wardrobe stylist and Katherine Rodriguez model.
